“Connection” / “chemistry”

Posted by Chevalier on September 29, 2009

A lot of participants in P4P talk about “connection” or “chemistry” as part of what makes a session particularly memorable or something the client is likely to repeat.  Here’s a recent thread on ECCIE, and another on ASPD.  There may be, ummm, a few similar references in this blog as well. :)

But for something that gets mentioned a lot, it is (usually) described in very vague terms.  We normally don’t talk much about what “connection” or “chemistry” mean, or why you may feel them with one person more than another.  We just assert C&C as a fact.

It’s that season

Posted by Chevalier on September 29, 2009

I woke up the other day with a (mild) sore throat.  Might be allergies.  Might be reaction to the stress of a trip.  But on the other hand, there is a lot of strep, flu, and various other KTD’s going around.

I advised a couple of ladies I’d seen recently.  Of course, I don’t know if I was contagious when I saw them and even if I were, there may not be much that they could do about it now, so I’m not sure what telling them accomplished.

And I cancelled a date for later this week.  *sigh*  Because if it is a KTD, you can’t take precautions to minimize the risk of transmission and still really enjoy the date, can you?

I learned something new the other day . . .

Posted by Chevalier on September 28, 2009

When there is a candle placed somewhere near the floor, and you’re intent on the nekkid lovely lounging on the bed in front of you . . . be careful when you toss your pants behind you.  No, they didn’t catch on fire.  But they did tip over the candle holder, which proceeded to drip wax on my pants.  Which I discovered as I was getting dressed to leave.  That is, potentially, a bigger give-away than “bed hair,” which is what I usually am most concerned about.

It absolutely mortified her, but as it turned out (and as I anticipated), it was not a big deal.  We were able to scrap the wax off the pants, to the point where it wasn’t too noticeable unless looking very closely.  I had an opportunity for a quick change after I got home, and now all I have to do is take the pants to the cleaners to eliminate any remaining trace.  The undershirt would have been much harder to disguise, but that I could just leave behind without being too noticeable when I got home.

I will be more careful in the future, though. :)

Too much of a good thing?

Posted by Chevalier on September 22, 2009

Can you ever enjoy your time with a lady too much?  Well, sure.  Some guys take a P4P encounter for way more than it is (here’s an example from TER) and may either: (a) become stalkers; or (b) be ripe for exploitation/manipulation, if they happen to be with an unscrupulous lady.  That’s standard P4P conventional wisdom.

I’ve always been able to avoid that extreme.   (OK, 30 years or so ago when I was single I did ask an escort for a date, but that was an isolated instance.  And I did go through a period of time with “too much of a good thing” = scheduling more appointments than my budget would really allow, but that’s also long gone.)  I’m fairly grounded.  I know that I don’t want to leave my wife to run off with an escort.  I also know that, even if I were suddenly single, running off together would not be a good idea for either of us.  The bounded authenticity in P4P is authentic because it is bounded.  We have no idea what it might be like if it were not bounded, if we encountered each other in civilian life.  But it would definitely be different, and most likely less fabulous than it seems when only together for short periods of time under optimal conditions.  Sort of like how the first couple of months dating don’t tell you what married life would be like. :) For that matter, I’ve backed away when a lady has seemed possibly too enthusiastic — although that happens rarely. :)

I have no problem (at least in the last 30 years) keeping my feelings for the ladies within the boundaries.  Even at a lower level of intensity, though . . . .

Traveling

Posted by Chevalier on September 21, 2009

I’m going to be traveling to Chicago for business soon, and considered arranging some companionship while I’m there.  It always seems as though it would be easier, perhaps even safer, playing somewhere other than your home tome.  The stumbling block, of course, would be deciding whom to see.

Connections

Posted by Chevalier on September 17, 2009

No, not that kind. :) I’m thinking today about how prospective clients react to the idea of others who work with a lady he’s considering for an appointment — most obviously, someone who screens and schedules for her or other ladies with whom she shares an incall.

Says it all

Posted by Chevalier on September 15, 2009

From a post in the HDH section of ASPD:

In my experience, women who are in the highest echelons of escorts/campanions/courtesans establish bonds with other men and women, because they are “connectors.” That is their basic skill. They make connections with their suitors

Emphasis added.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.  The “best” — of course, WALDT, but this is my outlook — are the “best” not because they just happen to click with that particular client, but because their personality and attitude is such that they can honestly connect with many, even most, of their clients.  And it’s not as common a skill as people think.

Faux economics

Posted by Chevalier on September 14, 2009

I ran across an op-ed by an economist about P4P economics.  I wonder sometimes at how little civilians understand about P4P.  Sure, they don’t have direct experience, but you’d think some things would still be fairly obvious, at least to an economist.  Yet . . .

It was amusing enough to hear his summary of why economists think escorts (as opposed to street workers) earn “high wages” (and I’ll get to that adjective in a moment):

Removing a mod

Posted by Chevalier on September 13, 2009

Awhile back, in a thread about clients trying to get something for free, Adrianna Love first mentioned that a mod (on another board) had done that, and then identified the mod in question (actually an admin) — JoeE on ML.  Subsequently, she reported that he was removed from his position, as well as banned temporarily from ML (and she posted a similar report on ECCIE).

Of course that involves some issues I’ve discussed before, which are perhaps the most obvious issues/questions for most members of a review/discussion board.  But there’s another aspect that interests me more at the moment.
