Who’s searching?

Posted by Chevalier on September 26, 2007

There have been a few occasions when people have stumbled across my blog by a search engine using an escort’s “stage name.”  Sometimes for one of the ladies on my blogroll; more often for a few ladies mentioned in either one of my posts or (in at least one case) only in a responding comment by someone else.

But it started me thinking, who is most likely conducting that Internet search:

  1. A prospective client, looking for information about the lady; or
  2. The lady herself, just checking to see where she may have been mentioned by name.

I’m beginning to lean toward the second explanation, which raises another question.

Let’s be more precise

Posted by Chevalier on September 26, 2007

A thread over at ASPD displays the normal confusion (or perhaps just imprecision) when discussing an “upsell.”  It may be defined in other contexts as:

to try to persuade a customer to buy a more expensive item or to buy a related additional product at a discount

but that’s not exactly what we mean when we use the term in P4P.  Jarod starts out describing the stereotypical upselling situation, where a substantial fee turns out just for her to show up, with extra charges for removing clothing, kissing, etc.  But then the thread continues on with comments about “If the girl even mentions more cash once I have paid” or “The minute she starts with ‘if you want that, that will be an additional….’ “.  That implied definition of upselling is just too broad.

Professionalism . . . or not

Posted by Chevalier on September 26, 2007

This post on Backpage.com (mentioned on this thread at ASPD) has got to be a joke, doesn’t it?  Apparently from a working lady bitching about her business manager.  (Pimp?  Non-exploitive agency owner?  Not clear.)  Excerpts:

You still owe me $150. Why? i will tell you. Remember you told me if I could go out on that job to Irving you would give me $500. I went. No one was there. I cant help that I was late a few hours. I CANT CONTROL TRAFFIC YOU ASSHOLE!!! They werent there when I got there. I was suppose to be there at 6pm and I arrived about 10:45 maybe a little bit later. You have paid me before when I was late. One time you paid me even when I didnt show up at all. YOU NEED TO PAY ME NOW!!! Or I will expose you for all that you do.. Ive worked for you almost 3 months and have always did a good job besides being late. Now you want to replace me with another girl?? FUCK YOU!! We had an agreement, at least $4,000 every month. And that has worked out for 3 months. We have both kept our ends of the deal. Now you wont return my emails or my calls, because I was late??? Come on you freaking retard. Ive been late to every freaking place Ive went. . . . I want not only my $150 dollars, but I want a public apology and my FUCKING JOB BACK. I cant pay a girl $1,000 a week, $4,000 per month and then all of a sudden fire her because SHE WAS A FEW HOURS LATE. Same concept as alimony. Im always fucking late!!! What the hell???

Four and a half hours late to an appointment?  Traffic does not explain it.  At least once didn’t show up at all?  OK, shit happens sometimes . . . but she still expects to be paid and keep her job?  She doesn’t see any problem, because she’s always late (guess since it’s a habit, that excuses it)?

And even worse is that she’s publicly outing the guy over the dispute.  Even if he’s a pimp (not entirely clear), for whom I don’t have a lot of sympathy, it’s still not acceptable.

Sexual style

Posted by Chevalier on September 25, 2007

I’ve been thinking recently about one aspect of the quality of a session that isn’t mentioned often.  For want of a better term, I’ll call it “sexual style.”  By this, I mean not what the lady does, but how she does it.  I’m thinking not of the extreme differences (“GFE” vs. “PSE”), but of the more subtle differences — and there are some, although difficult to describe.

We all know that such differences exist.  Sex is a highly individualistic activity.  Certainly there are “technicians” in the P4P community who follow a pre-determined script without imagination, but hopefully most of the ladies go beyond that.  I once analogized it as similar to: (1) at one level, a craftsman who produces a certain result with pride and skill beyond that of a mere technician following a checklist; or (2) with the best ladies (a subjective judgment to be sure), perhaps akin to a jazz soloist or blues musician improvising.  John Coltrane versus Charlie Parker; Eric Clapton versus B.B. King; Beatles versus Rolling Stones; etc. — all great, but different, and different listeners will have different preferences.

Reviewing clients

Posted by Chevalier on September 24, 2007

Another thread over on ASPD about the ladies posting public reviews of their clients.  I’ve blogged about the idea several times (see here, here, here, and here).  Assuming that the reviews are really public and the client and others can read them (not necessarily the case), it might be interesting to observe, although I suspect they would be as over-the-top as some of the reviews of the escorts written by love-smitten clients.

As mentioned innumerable times before, although there are some positives to the idea, there are also at least two serious drawbacks.  On balance . . . who knows?  Read the rest of this entry »

Touring, part 2

Posted by Chevalier on September 24, 2007

Awhile back, I mentioned that I generally preferred local ladies rather than those who are based elsewhere but come into town “touring.”  If you like seeing ladies on a repeat basis, seeing someone whom you may never get an opportunity to see again doesn’t have quite as much attraction.  (I must be getting senile — can’t for the life of me remember who it was whose imminent visit prompted that last post about touring, and evidently I never did see her.)

One exception I left out though: old friends who have moved away and come back for a brief visit.  If I’ve already seen a ladyfriend several times, particularly if she may be visiting on a semi-regular basis, that’s completely different.  And it just so happens that an old ladyfriend is visiting Dallas now. :)

Now if I can only get my schedule to cooperate . . .

“Referrers”

Posted by Chevalier on September 22, 2007

The blog stats that WordPress tracks for me about the blog includes “referrers” — pages from which people clicked on links to take them to my blog.  (As opposed to just typing the information in directly to a Web browser, I guess.)  Some from people who access this blog from the link on my user profile (or my individual posts) on ASPD.  Some from people who come here from the blogroll of other bloggers.  (Thanks, ptr_leeds, LA Player, Simply Alexa, Nia, Caitie Mae, etc.)  Even, in an instance or two, apparently from an email.

And occasionally, I’ll see something from a discussion board where someone has placed a link.  Some of those may be a generic link to the blog; some to specific threads here.  Understandably, there have been a few over the past couple of months from AHC :) , including at least one I recall that seemed to be from a private message rather than a post.  Of course, when the link is not in a public area — either a PM or an email or a post in a restricted access forum — I can’t see what was linked to, who posted the link (or sent the PM or email), or what they said about it.  *shrug*  Not a big deal.

It is amusing to see where traffic is coming from, though, including from a UK review/discussion board (PunterNet) awhile back when someone linked to my post about an escort writing a review about me.  And in the last few days, several clicks from a review/discussion board I’d never heard of — and which apparently is very low profile (can only be accessed by registered users and is no longer accepting new users), so I won’t even mention the name. :)

Not that all of this information is particularly useful in any way, but it is interesting or amusing to check it every now and then.  Another reason that I’m glad I switched from geocities/Yahoo! 360 to WordPress.

A question for readers

Posted by Chevalier on September 22, 2007

WordPress.com has a feature that allows a blog owner to delegate other users (once they set up an account with WordPress) various levels of ability to start their own threads, edit, delete, etc.  Although I doubt there is much need for someone else to edit, delete, etc. — since I almost never do that (other than editing my own posts with additional information occasionally) — such functionality, at the lower levels of authority, would allow other users to start their own threads here, rather than just responding to thread that I start.  I’ve also seen this sort of thing done for Andrew Sullivan’s blog, when he’s away for vacation and has “guest bloggers” sitting in for him.

From the perspective of the poster:  A lot of the people who read and comment here, of course, have their own blogs or take advantage of various discussion boards if they want to start a new thread.  That gives them more control, more freedom, and in many cases a larger audience.  So I’m not sure anyone would be interested in being a “co-author” here specifically, rather than just posting elsewhere.  And, of course, any particular person who was interested might not fit my ideas of an appropriate “co-author.” :)

From the perspective of the audience:  *shrug*  A different perspective occasionally might be interesting to readers, and it might result in more threads (hopefully interesting) particularly during times when I’m busy or away and not posting much.  Or during times when my focus in on particular subjects that are of little or no interest to most readers? :)

Anyway, I’d be interested in any feedback on the concept.  Tried it yourself on your blog?  (and with what results?)  Think it would or would not be workable?  Think it would or would not make for more interesting content?  And, of course, applications for such a “co-author” arrangement can be emailed to me at chevalierdallas-aspd@yahoo.com.

Bad timing

Posted by Chevalier on September 21, 2007

An opportunity to get away this afternoon for some playtime — and I can’t find a playmate. :( I swear I went through at least eight names on my list of possibilities, and all were either out of town, booked, unavailable for other reasons, or incommunicado. *sigh*

I know a same day appointment is often difficult to schedule, as the ladies get booked up in advance or make other plans, but it’s still disappointing to miss out on a window of opportunity.  Of course, I’m sure I could find someone to play with . . . but I don’t want to visit just anyone, and besides, I’m running out of enthusiasm to continue the search; the more I search unsuccessfully, the more depressing it is.

And when I have a window of opportunity and get my hopes up, but then can’t find a playmate . . . I wind up distracted and fantasizing about it the rest of the afternoon.  Not gonna get laid and not gonna be very productive at work either. :(

Suspicion

Posted by Chevalier on September 21, 2007

I ran across an interesting comment in this month’s Chess Life, in Andy Soltis’ column:

But I suspect the main reason for the Elista scandal lies in a character fault that sets GMs apart from the rest of humanity:  Most people are generally trustful and expect trust in return.  Some others are naturally suspicious and recognize that their own actions can be suspect.  But many GMs comprise a third category.  They suspect everyone and they’re outraged when suspicion is directed at them.

Well, it’s not just chess grandmasters; it also describes a fair sized chunk of the P4P community. :)
